A superb soundtrack by ethereal Tangerine Dream combined with a nerve-tingling storyline based on F. Paul Wilson's novel has elevated this controversial film to cult status. During World War II, Nazi forces stationed in Romania unintentionally unleash an evil force that had been buried in the walls of a fortress which was once a mystic shrine. The only way to destroy the growing evil, which is even worse than fascism, is to find the chosen man, who himself has risen from a long sleep.
