Alec Longmire (Rory Calhoun), a gunfighter, decides to change his ways after nearly losing his life. He promises a fellow gunman – on his deathbed - to change his ways before it is too late. Longmire reforms, becoming a deputy to Jade Murphy (Dean Jagger), an honest sheriff (Dean Jagger) trapped between warring farmers and cattlemen. That is where and when he falls in love with the sheriff's daughter Caroline (Martha Hyer) who despises gunslingers.
“Time was running out for the gunfighter… in the West’s last era of wanton violence!”
