In memory, each romance seemed splendid and destined for happiness, but in each case, Lydia realizes, the truth was less romantic, and ill-starred.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score (Miklós Rózsa) -- Dramatic or Comedy Picture at the 14th Academy Awards.

"Here is the simple, dramatic story of a woman who had four loves in her life...and married none of them. Four men laid their hearts at the feet of this Boston Belle...and she couldn't decide which one to break first!"
